SOLAR ENERGY - The sun produces vast amounts of renewable solar energy that can be collected and converted into heat and electricity. Solar energy technology is used on both small and large scales to produce electricity. Solar energy differs from most energy technologies in that it can be generated on site, reducing or eliminating fuel transportation, electricity transmission, and distribution costs. Homes in remote areas can use PV systems for lighting, home appliances and other electrical needs. Saving the cost of extending power lines to a remote location. These systems require a storage device to store power generated during the day for nighttime use. Typically this is a lead-acid battery bank. Unlike gasoline-powered generators, PV systems do not require fuel deliveries and are clean and quiet to operate.

SOLAR ENERGY COST - These kind of systems are very nice, but they can cost between$ 20,000 - $70,000 dollars, depending whether or not you want air conditioning. It is one thing to like to have something, but in real terms, can you afford it ? You can buy a lot of energy for $20,000 - $70,000, for a long period of time.

SOLAR ENERGY TECHNOLOGY -  They are working on roof shingles coated with PV cells made of amorphous silicon. When installation is complete, the PV shingles look much like ordinary roofing shingles, but they generate electricity. Maybe they will develop a house paint with PV cells. They already have sheets with PV cells that can be 
glued to metal roofs. All this new technology will bring down the cost of solar energy, to where the average person can afford it.
