OIL
PEAK OIL -Refers to the maximum extraction rate of oil, after
which the rate of extraction will decline. Is oil a renewable energy? How
many dinosaurs would have had to die to supply us with oil up to now? Oil is a
biotic, not the product of long
decayed biological matter. Oil is not a non-renewable
resource.
It's like coal, and natural gas, replenishes from sources within the
mantle of earth. The existence of self-renewing oil fields shatters the
peak oil myth. If oil is a naturally replenishing inorganic substance then
how can it possibly run out?
RECYCLING OF MOTOR OIL - By recycling your used motor oil, you
keep it out of rivers, lakes, streams and even your ground water, plus you
can cut down our use for
energy. Some uses for recycled oil are : re-refining for use in a new
generation of motor oil or as fuel oils, hydraulic oil, re-refined base
oil, for use as a lubricant, or transformer oil.
There are many more uses of recycled oil, too many to mention here. By
recycling motor
oil you save money and cut down the use of new crude oil.
A BARREL OF OIL YIELDS THESE REFINED PRODUCTS - 47% gasoline for
use in automobiles, 23% heating oil and diesel fuel, 18% other products,
which includes petrochemical feedstock—products derived from petroleum
principally for the manufacturing of chemicals, synthetic rubber and
plastics, 10% jet fuel, 4% propane, and
3% asphalt. The gasoline use in automobiles could drastically be reduced
by implementing drastic measures in mass transit on a very large scale. Also by increasing
the efficiency of autos to double what they are today. On heating oil and diesel fuel,
increase the efficiency on motors that are used. Keep adding bio- diesel as a
alternative to
diesel. You can use recycled oil in place of heating oil. On jet fuel you
can use more
efficient engines and maybe bio-diesel as a fuel. For propane you can use
natural gas.
For asphalt you develop a way to use oil shale as a alternative. On the
other products
that oil is used would be left alone for the time being. The big culprit
is the gasoline
for cars and trucks.
